Heel Up® AIR Medium – heel protector for lying, seated and mobile users
Heel Up® AIR Medium is an inflatable Levabo heel pressure relief device designed to protect the heel during prolonged lying, sitting or selected mobility situations. Unlike standard heel lifters that are mainly used in lying positions, AIR Medium includes an additional air pad directly under the heel. It offloads the heel in bed and cushions heel contact when the user is more mobile or changes position during the day.
Mobilex supplies this CE-marked medical device from Łódź, Poland, providing EU-based product documentation, selection support and after-sales communication for healthcare institutions, caregivers and private users.

Key advantages of Heel Up® AIR Medium
- Dual functional protection – offloads the heel in bed and cushions heel contact during mobility.
- Air pad under the heel – absorbs pressure when the heel touches a surface.
- Medium adult size – 39 cm support length for common adult lower-leg profiles.
- Flexible daily use – helpful when the patient alternates between bed, chair and supervised mobility.
- Heel offloading – lifts or supports the heel approx. 25 mm in lying position; cushioning support under the heel during mobility above the underlying surface.
- Achilles tendon relief – the anatomical channel avoids direct pressure on the Achilles tendon.
- Ankle protection – side walls help protect the malleoli from localised contact pressure.
- Forefoot support – helps reduce drop-foot positioning where the model design includes forefoot support.
- Stop Up® inflation control – supports correct first inflation without a pressure gauge.
- Fast setup – supplied flat and inflated immediately before use.
Who is Heel Up® AIR Medium for?

| Heel Up® FIX Max | 18 × 50 × 30 cm | Larger build, oedema or need for higher side walls | Heel support height approx. 28–30 mm |
Fitting rule: the product should remain soft and flexible after inflation. The pressure-relieved body area must be lifted or supported without hard compression, strap marks or localised pressure. Skin condition, device position and air volume should be checked daily according to the care plan.
Setup and safety instructions
- Remove the heel lifter from the clean flat package and unfold it on a stable surface.
- Open the hook-and-loop closure and insert the adapter or blowpipe into the self-closing valve.
- Inflate slowly until the Stop Up® band breaks during first inflation.
- Remove the adapter, close the valve and attach the protective valve cover if supplied.
- Open the side walls gently and place the patient’s foot into the heel lifter.
- Close the white strap and any coloured calf strap so the fit is secure but not tight.
- Check heel clearance by hand and repeat the check daily.
Important safety information: do not overinflate. A hard air cushion does not provide optimal pressure relief and may create unwanted pressure on the limb or soft tissue. Do not use steam cleaning, autoclaves, caustic chemicals, abrasive pads or sharp tools. Replace the product if it loses air, the outer layer is damaged or the fixing system no longer holds securely.
Medical device notice: this is a medical device. Use it according to the instructions for use, the product label and local clinical procedures.
FAQ – Heel Up® AIR Medium
What is Heel Up® AIR Medium used for?
Heel Up® AIR Medium is used to reduce pressure on the heel in patients at risk of heel pressure injuries or requiring supportive heel wound care.
Does it fully offload the heel?
Yes. When correctly inflated and fitted, the heel is lifted approx. 25 mm in lying position; cushioning support under the heel during mobility above the mattress, footrest or support surface, depending on the model.
How should the product feel after inflation?
It should feel soft and flexible, not hard. If the cushion feels rigid, release a small amount of air and check heel clearance again.
How often should heel clearance be checked?
Check heel clearance, air volume, strap tension and skin condition at least once daily or according to local care procedures.
Does it protect the Achilles tendon and ankle bones?
Yes. The anatomical channel relieves the Achilles tendon and provides space around the malleoli while the heel is offloaded.
Can it be used in adjustable beds?
Yes, provided the care team follows bed and side-rail safety procedures to avoid entrapment, pinching and shear forces.
Can it be inflated again if it loses some air?
Yes. Use the supplied adapter, blowpipe or compatible pump to adjust air volume. Replace the product if it loses air repeatedly.
Can the product be disinfected?
Yes. Follow the cleaning and disinfection regime for the specific model. Single-patient PE versions and Multi-Patient TPU/nylon versions have different temperature limits.
Is it suitable for home care?
Yes. It is supplied flat, inflates quickly and can be fitted by a trained caregiver following the instructions for use.
Is it a CE-marked medical device?
Yes. It is a CE-marked Levabo medical device distributed in Poland by Mobilex Sp. z o.o. in Łódź.
